The mixed singer choir of the Technical University of Košice was founded in 1983. Mr. Karol Petróczi was the conductor of the choir from 1997 to 2009. Since January 2010 Dr. Tatiana Kanišáková has been the conductor of the choir.

Collegium Technicum has taken part in many festivals and competitions in Slovakia and also abroad. The choir has been a triple laureate of the International Competition of Academic Choirs IFAS in Pardubice (1986, 1990, 1992) and a fivefold winner of the festival of academic choirs Academic Banská Bystrica (1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001). In 1989 the choir became an absolute winner of the Prague Days of Choral Singing, in 1997 at the XV Teeside International Eisteddfod in Middlesbrough (England) the choir was awarded two 1st prizes in the category of chamber choirs and folklore and 2nd prize in the category of large mixed choirs. In 2002 the choir became an absolute winner of the festival Spring is Coming in Český Krumlov where it was awarded the Prize of Zdeněk Lukáš received from hands of Zdeněk Lukáš. In August 2006 the choir was awarded 1st prize at the II. International Competition The Singing World (Pojuščij mir) in St. Petersburg. At its 20th anniversary the choir was awarded the Prize of City Košice. So far the choir has been awarded more than 20 interpretation prizes. In 1997 the choir recorded an author CD of Ivan Hrušovský Cantate Domino and in 2003 it recorded an author CD of Zdeněk Lukáš Te Deum laudamus. 

The choir has given 175 concerts and festival performances abroad in 19 states of Europe, Israel, South America, USA and Mexico. Collegium Technicum has worked together with 42 professional conductors, 29 of them from abroad, and has given concerts with renowned soloists. Since the season 1986/87 the choir has worked together with the State Philharmonic, Košice, regularly that resulted in 16 oratorio works, it has worked together also with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of the State Theatre in Košice, the orchestra of the State Opera in Banská Bystrica and several university and festival orchestras.


Tatiana Kanišáková graduated from the Faculty of Education, Comenius University in Bratislava in 1997, where she also got her PhD. degree in 2004.  In 1997–2000 she was the assistant conductor of the academic choir Comenius in Bratislava and the Slovak teachers choir Ozvena with which she participated in the recording of the profile CD „Ozvena“. In 2003 she took part in the master classes of choral conducting with Prof. Eva Rozsgonyi in Szeged (Hungary), in 2006 she attended the postgraduate study of choral singing and conducting at the Akademia Muzycna in Bydgoszcz which she finished with distinction. 

Since 2001 she has been teaching at the Department of Music, Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, University of Prešov.  She is the conductor of the women’s choir Iuventus Paedagogica and the mixed singer choir Nostro Canto there with which she recorded a CD of contemporary Slovak choral music. At the international competitions IFAS in Pardubice, Czech Republic (2004, 2008) the women’s choir she conducted was awarded two 1st prizes and the prize of the rector of university for the best choir,  and she was awarded the prize for the best conductor. At the international competition Academic Banská Bystrica, Slovak Republic (2005) the choir she conducted was awarded the 1st prize in the category of mixed choir and the choir became an absolute winner of the competition.

Tatiana Kanišáková is a regular lector and jury member. She has given lectures and conducted in Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, France, Austria, Norway and Ukraine (27 concerts, festival and competition performances). Since January 2010 she has been the conductor of the mixed singer choir Collegium Technicum of the Technical University of Košice.
